Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda in 2015, FEMP has participated in numerous consultation and dialogue forums, both at international and European level, on the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda.

In fact, in 2018, FEMP was included by the Government of Spain in the Action Plan for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, as a leverage institution in promoting the Agenda, highlighting the leadership role that had already been exercised in previous years.

In September 2019, at the XII Plenary Session of FEMP, the leadership and commitment to ground the SDGs in cities and territories from the bottom up was politically renewed and strengthened.

To this end, the Declaration in favor of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals was approved and its Governing Board was mandated to create governance tools for the localization of the 2030 Agenda in the territory.

At that time, the creation of the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development was agreed upon, which held its First Assembly on October 21, 2020.
