Som Sant Lluís, Som Sostenible Campaign

Sant Lluis Town Council

Summary

We carried out a campaign to present the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. In it, we organized a presentation on what the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs are, the current status of the municipality, the objectives by 2030, and what path we want to follow. In this campaign, each week we organized different actions for citizens, such as workshops, talks, theater performances, concerts, storytelling… in which the SDGs being worked on were communicated, explaining what each one meant, what was intended to be achieved, and how we could do it.

Self-assessment Section

PLANNING What were the objectives set for the project?

To raise awareness among citizens about the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

IMPACT What are the positive impacts of the project?

An evaluation survey was conducted among citizens and the result was positive, as most responses concluded that they now had greater knowledge of the subject.

INNOVATION What are the most innovative aspects? What challenge/problem is being addressed?

Innovative aspects were that people are willing to participate in the 2030 Agenda and get involved. Problem: the current pandemic situation limits us considerably when it comes to carrying out actions, meetings, or even at the budgetary level.

METHODOLOGY What methodology was followed for its implementation?

Encourage the community, work together, learn from others, be consistent and maintain transparency.

CONDITIONING FACTORS What are the conditions that must be met for the project to be successfully replicated (in a similar context)?

Good communication, teamwork and cross-cutting work, and commitment and dedication from all parties.

REPLICATE/SCALE/TRANSFER What elements must be taken into account for the project to be replicated in another Local Entity? What resources are needed?

Human resources: technicians with full knowledge and understanding of the 2030 Agenda are needed. Volunteers to participate in actions and create activities that communicate the SDGs, and financial resources: a generous budget to carry out these activities, as well as good publicity and necessary materials to make it visible. In our case, being a small municipality, we had a budget of €26,000.

STAKEHOLDER INVOLVEMENT What local stakeholders have been involved in the project (citizens, third sector organizations, private sector, academic sector, etc.)? How was this involvement achieved?

Private sector, entities, residents, schools, other island administrations. The involvement has been in the creation and organization of all the events.

INTERNAL COORDINATION How has the project been coordinated internally within the Local Entity?

It has been a joint effort, with an internal team of about 10 to 12 people.

PARTNERSHIPS Have other institutions been involved in achieving the set objectives?

We have had partnerships with private companies and entities that have participated and wanted to share their knowledge as well.

RESULTS/MEASUREMENT Have the project results been measured based on local indicators?

Not directly.

RELEVANCE How appropriate are the objectives and results? Is there consistency between the objectives set and the results obtained?

We believe we have achieved most of the objectives we set. We could improve in some areas, such as reaching more people, but it is also true that the inability to hold larger events with larger audiences has prevented us from reaching more people, or from having all the people we would have liked attend.

TRIPLE IMPACT: Is the project sustainable from an environmental, economic and social perspective?

Yes, completely.

OBSTACLES: What were the main obstacles encountered in all phases of the project?

Not being able to hold larger events with larger audiences.

CONCLUSION. Project impact and usefulness.

We have reached a significant number of people in the municipality and beyond. We have succeeded in creating curiosity about the 2030 Agenda and a desire to learn more about it. We have managed to have many companies and entities that want to partner to work together, as well as other administrations.
