IV Network Assembly

Local Commitment to the 2030 Agenda

Malaga, July 4 and 5, 2024

Introduction

Over the course of two days, the conference “Local Commitment to the 2030 Agenda” shared experiences, reflections, and challenges regarding the importance of collaboration between different levels of government and the need for a collective commitment to advance the goals of the 2030 Agenda; it focused on how local actions play a fundamental role in driving awareness and the implementation of the SDGs as a key element for the transformation toward sustainability.

The need to work using indicators as a reference for the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda at the local level was highlighted, promoting collaboration and innovation to achieve global sustainable development goals. Likewise, it became clear that effective communication plays a crucial role in the commitment to and implementation of the 2030 Agenda at the local level, facilitating understanding and the active participation of citizens in building a more sustainable future.

All of this is coupled with collaboration between local governments and the private sector as a fundamental piece for achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda, promoting innovation and sustainability within the business and industrial sectors.

Throughout the various interventions, the importance of local policies in launching the transformations and transitions necessary to face current challenges—in accordance with the global agreement represented by the 2030 Agenda—was emphasized.

The IV Annual Assembly of the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda took place on July 5. This meeting space for Network members saw the approval of the work plan and lines of action until the next Assembly.
