In parallel, the city of Burgos will host the Conference on municipalities and the 2030 Agenda, as announced today by the President of the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda, the Mayor of Palma José Hila, who estimated attendance at more than 300 political and technical representatives.

The Assembly of the Network of Local Entities is the Network’s highest governing body—created just over a year ago—and is made up of representatives of full members, honorary members, observers and collaborators, bringing the total to 342 local entities, which represent, he specified, “a population of 24 million inhabitants in one year”.

Among the Assembly’s responsibilities are the design of policy to defend interests and ensure the achievement of the Network’s own objectives, approval of the programme of activities, the annual report and the Network’s annual budgets. It will be the first assembly to be held in person, combined with videoconferencing for members who cannot attend in person. In-person attendance and capacity will depend on the safety and health measures in place at the time.

Coinciding with the 2nd Assembly, the Network, in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Burgos and the City Council, will organise a Conference on how municipalities can work in their territories to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.
