The Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will step up its communication actions next year, especially those aimed at highlighting the contribution of local entities when it comes to promoting and raising awareness in their territories of the Sustainable Development Goals. To support this work, training initiatives, events and the addition of new communication channels such as podcasts have been planned.

This was approved at the Network’s 5th Assembly, held on Thursday, 23 October in Vitoria-Gasteiz, which brought to a close the working sessions that have made the capital of Álava the hub of the debate on the role of town councils, provincial councils and island entities in bringing the Sustainable Development Goals to territories and strengthening public trust in them.

Other actions

The Network’s Action Plan also includes other initiatives such as technical advice for local entities to implement the 2030 Agenda at local level, and the expansion of the functionalities of the local indicators platform on progress towards the 2030 Agenda SDGs in local entities.

It also envisages providing technical advice and personalised support to municipalities in the implementation process. The addition of three new collaborating partners has also been approved (the Network already has 767 associate members), and the call for applications to host the 6th Assembly next year has been opened.
