The European Commission highlights in its Voluntary Report on the progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda the good practice undertaken by the FEMP.

The objective of this report is to accelerate the green and digital transitions, as well as the implementation of the SDGs through its recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. It reflects the evolution of different governmental bodies, thus demonstrating the Union’s commitment to being greener, more digital, more socially just, more inclusive, and more resilient. The EU is fully committed to a human rights-based approach in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, showcasing various actions undertaken in the process.

The text states that in Spain, the Spanish Federation of Provinces and Municipalities (FEMP) works, in cooperation with multi-level authorities, to advance the local implementation process of the 2030 Agenda at the local level.

This includes the development of the 2030 Agenda Localization Manual, which is the basic tool for local entities in Spain to work under the same parameters for the localization of the SDGs in local initiatives involving a variety of local actors.

This recognition reflects the importance of networking and the involvement of the more than 580 Local Entities participating in the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, and undoubtedly positions this Federation as an example of good practice in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of the European Union.
