Madrid, June 11, 2026.- During the meeting of the Governing Council of the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda, held on June 11, the celebration of the Alliances 2030 Congress in Jerez de la Frontera, the development of the VI Assembly of the Network in Huesca, and the incorporation of three new observer partners were approved.

The agreements adopted strengthen the Network’s roadmap for the last quarter of 2026 and consolidate collaboration between local governments and other actors committed to sustainable development.

Alliances 2030 Congress in Jerez

Among the main agreements reached is the approval of the celebration of the Alliances 2030 Congress, which will take place in Jerez de la Frontera on November 25, 26, and 27, 2026, within the framework of the 45th anniversary of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

The Congress is created with the objective of strengthening multi-stakeholder alliances promoted by local governments as a tool to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Over three days, political and technical officials from local entities will share space with representatives from the private sector, academia, civil society, and international networks to identify effective collaboration strategies, exchange experiences, and promote new territorial alliances for sustainable development.

The event will have an open format for public administrations, companies, and third-sector organizations. Additionally, it will feature simultaneous activities and spaces designed to facilitate the generation of lasting connections and collaborations among participants.

Huesca will host the VI Assembly of the Network

The Governing Council also approved the development of the VI Assembly of the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, which will be held on October 29, 2026, in Huesca.

Within the framework of the VI Assembly of the Network, on October 28 and 29, the session “Promoting the coherence of local policies from the 2030 Agenda” will take place, a space for reflection and exchange on some of the main challenges faced by local administrations in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.

During the session, issues such as the multilevel dimension of policy coherence for sustainable development, youth participation in local policies linked to the 2030 Agenda, the role of communication in local and provincial administration, as well as various innovative experiences and initiatives related to Voluntary Local Reports and the localization of the 2030 Agenda will be addressed.

New observer partners

The Network continues to expand its institutional collaboration space. In this regard, the Governing Council approved the incorporation of the L’Horta Nord Commonwealth, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, and the Condado de Huelva Development Commonwealth as new Observer Partners.

These memberships will continue to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experiences among entities committed to sustainable development and the localization of the 2030 Agenda at the local level.

Upcoming call for grants to promote the 2030 Agenda

During the meeting, the Director General of the 2030 Agenda of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda, reported that a new call for grants intended to finance actions to promote the 2030 Agenda in local entities will be published soon.

Likewise, he highlighted the fundamental role that local governments play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and emphasized the joint work that the Ministry and FEMP have been developing to support local entities in this area.
