The working groups of the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda have met to present and validate various specific actions to improve the implementation of the SDGs. This meeting was oriented towards jointly addressing proposals to optimize the strategy designed by the Network, resulting in a wide range of actions that seek to accelerate the fulfillment of the SDGs by the member Local Entities.

This work of cooperation, mainstreaming, and dialogue, which has been underway since September of last year, has served to share the experience of different Local Entities on such significant issues as budgetary alignment with 2030 Agenda plans, mainstreaming and staff involvement, and local indicators for measuring SDG compliance. At the same time, numerous actions have been identified that will foster an improvement in the challenges that the participants themselves have identified as priorities. Thus, the meeting provided an opportunity to hear proposals that transversally cover multiple areas of the local sphere, such as governance, training, public awareness, institutional agreements, and issues regarding the measurement and monitoring of the measures applied.

The three working groups shared the difficulties encountered in the application of certain measures. Likewise, they have mapped out a global situational diagnosis that allows for effective joint planning for the implementation of the SDGs.

At the end of the meeting, the team members scheduled a conference to be held in Almería next June. There, new transversal actions aimed at achieving the objectives set by the Network of Local Entities for the 2030 Agenda will be addressed.
